ABOUT

Alessandro Stella is an Italian pianist and producer.

In 2020, he founded the label Extended Place.

As an original artist with a sophisticated discography, Alessandro Stella has performed in major cities in Italy, Europe and Latin America, including in Argentina, Cuba, France, Georgia, Germany, Morocco, the United Kingdom, Spain and Switzerland.

He has been a guest at major international festivals, such as, since 2008, the "Martha Argerich Project" and the "Klavier-Festival Ruhr".

He has also performed in some of the leading theaters and concert halls in Italy and around the world, such as the Auditorio Stelio Molo (Lugano), the Herkulessaal (Munich), the Salle Rameau (Lyon), the Teatro Coliseo (Buenos Aires), the Teatro Comunale of Modena, the Teatro dei Rozzi (Siena), the Teatro del Libertador (Córdoba), the Teatro El Círculo (Rosario), the Teatro Mohammed V (Rabat), the Teatro Piccinni (Bari), the Teatro Romano (Verona), the Zentrum Paul Klee (Bern).

His recordings, released by Extended Place, Artalinna, Continuo, Kha, Stradivarius and Warner Classics, have received unanimous appreciation from international critics, including various awards (Melómano de oro, 5 Diapason, 5 Stars of Classica, 5 Stars of Music, Gramophone Editor's Choice, Echo Klassik Award).

His concerts and recordings have been broadcast by major radio stations such as BBC, Bayerischer Rundfunk, ORT, RSI, Radio France, RAI, RTBF, RTP, RTVE, WDR.

His innate curiosity has often led him to come up with original, off-the-beaten-path projects.

Of immense importance for him was his encounter with the music of Giya Kancheli, Giacinto Scelsi and Valentin Silvestrov.

In addition to his work as a solo artist, he is also intensely involved with chamber music, regularly playing with Gemma Bertagnolli, Gilda Buttà, Mauro Conti, Giovanni Gnocchi, Marcos Madrigal, Ivos Margoni, Tai Murray, Giacomo Palazzesi, Laura Polverelli, Pietro Roffi, Nurit Stark, Nino Surguladze

He is founder member of the three pianos ensemble 'The Pianos Trio' with Giorgia Tomassi and Carlo Maria Griguoli.

Notable contemporary composers such as Carlo Boccadoro, Nicola Campogrande, Giya Kancheli and Valentin Silvestrov have written or arranged important works for him, which he then performed and recorded as world premieres.

In duo with Marcos Madrigal, he has toured the most important Italian dance seasons and festivals with the shows 'Soirée Russe' and 'Giulietta' - starring Eleonora Abbagnato - curated by Daniele Cipriani.

Alessandro Stella studied with Raffaella d’Esposito, then continuing his studies with Franco Scala and Marco Di Bari.

He has also attended seminars and master classes with Bruno Canino, Maria João Pires, Maurizio Pollini, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Alexis Weissenberg and Christian Zacharias.
